Have you
heard that old ballad; 1960's country music singing legend “Gentleman” Travis (Jim) Reeves popularized
it, Elvis crooned his way thought it, and many others have added their unique
interpretation to these lyrics that speak of the longing that resides in all of
our hearts. It’s usually sung as a love song, which indeed it is….
Miracles,
I guess
Still
happen now and then
Step
into my heart
Leave
your cares behind
Welcome
to my world
Built
with you in mind
Knock
and the door shall be open
Seek and
you will find
Ask and
you’ll be given
The key
to this world of mine
I’ll be
waiting there
With my
arms unfurled
Waiting
just for you
Welcome
to my world
Welcome
to my world
These
timeless words could have penned by the Creator Himself.
We live
in a world of extraordinary beauty that was “built” for us. Almost every
scientific, geological, astronomical and biological discovery made shows the
unique nature of the little blue planet that we call home.
It’s
easy to lose sight of the fact that this world was created for us…there is so
much negativity, fear, prejudice and pain around that we can become swamped by
all of it, if we allow ourselves to dwell on it.
If we
want to know the nature and appearance of a piece of furniture we must wait
until it is finished. If we want to savor the perfume of a rose, we have
to wait until it is in full bloom. We must wait 9 months (usually) to see for ourselves the child that we as parents have created. To discover the substance of most
things, we have to wait until the end of the process of creation or development.
However,
if we want to discover the essence of humanity, we must go in the opposite
direction. We must go back to the very beginning, to the original casting to
find out the essence of humankind. We need to look back beyond that great and
disastrous catastrophe in the garden, which changed us, and disfigured the
image of who we were meant to be, and what this world was designed for.
And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold,
it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
Genesis 1:31 ASV
And God saw everything that He had made, and behold,
it was very good (suitable, pleasant) and He approved it completely. And there
was evening and there was morning, a sixth day. Genesis 1:31Amplified Bible
God was
well pleased with all of his creation - the animals, the flowers, the clouds,
the blue sky, the mountains and oceans; God must have felt deep satisfaction at
all of His created order. He knew that it was beautiful and good.
The
essence of man depended upon God creating mankind. That great artist, Michelangelo,
portrayed the creation of the world on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. There
we can see Adam, fully formed, looking like a man lying in a half-reclining
posture with his hand outstretched toward God. Completing the image is a
depiction of God whose finger is about to touch Adam.
Was Adam
a man yet? No! His body was not human until the miracle occurred when God
touched Adam and gave him the gift of life. The Bible says after God formed the
man, then he breathed into him the breath of life. The KJV Bible says… “man became a living soul.” Genesis 2:7
And God
welcomed him to His world….
For the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7 KJV
