Warranty void!

Over the years we have  purchased numerous new electrical appliances, and each one has included a “manufacturers warranty” that guarantees replacement of the appliance for one or two years, provided that we treat it according to certain stipulated conditions. Our new toaster for example, can cook bread, crumpets and English muffins, and should it malfunction cooking any of those three items we will get a free replacement toaster, even if our model is superseded.

There are certain conditions however that will invalidate our warranty… if we try and cook toast with butter or margarine spread on the raw bread, or if we immerse our toaster in water, then we can kiss any replacement toaster goodbye. The warranty is conditional upon us meeting certain requirements that the manufacturer considers reasonable.

When we first arrive on this planet, we too are issued a conditional warranty. We are guaranteed immortal life, but that guarantee is issued with qualified promises. Adam and Eve had just one condition to keep, ensuring that they remained forever in Paradise. There was a certain tree, the fruit of which they were forbidden to eat… well they did eat its mysterious fruit and well all know the consequences of that!

And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, You may freely eat of every tree of the garden; But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and blessing and calamity you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die. Genesis 2:16-17

There are many conditional promises in the Word of God that apply to believers post Eden.

Want an abiding sense of God’s presence in daily life… He has promised that He will never leave us.

Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!] Hebrews 13:5 Amplified Bible

Long for God’s power in your life? Well, He will never leave powerless us if we…

Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice. Isaiah 41:10 Amplified Bible

Has day-to-day living left you tried and weary?

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]  Matthew 11:28 Amplified Bible

Lacking a sense of direction, and purpose?
We are assured and know that God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose. Romans 8:28 Amplified Bible

Each of these great promises carries with it a responsibility to be obedient and faithful. With every promise of great blessing, there comes also responsibility and a requirement for us.

From God's Word
But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
