What Time Is It? (Part 2)

As I write this my country (New Zealand)  has entered a 4 week total lock-down in an attempt to stop COVID-19 in its tracks. All citizens, apart from essential workers, are confined to their homes. We are only allowed out to purchase food, to collect prescriptions from pharmacies.  

The world is in disarray, millions, if not billions, of people confined to their homes, countries trying to beat this virus, air-transport has virtually ceased, people had been "panic-buying" food and stock-piling. I have never seen anything like this before. Serious, experienced journalists are asking religious leaders if this is the"Biblical end of days" Prophecy websites are dredging up years old "words" from "prophets"(who got it wrong about Y2K, SARS, Ebola,  the Mayan 2012 calendar debacle etc.), in an attempt to claim that "their man" got it right this time. Yes people are getting sick, very sick, many are dying but this is not one of the Biblical Plagues of old.

Have you ever sat through a movie, waited and watched all the credits roll, then been surprised to see "bloopers" or even an alternative ending, that those who walked out of the theater did not see?

Often when you buy or download a DVD of a popular movie there are deleted scenes and other trivia included, and occasionally an alternative ending makes for greater understanding of the original movie. The "Director's Cut" usually expands the story, and/or clarifies any obscurities. 

The turmoil that we are witnessing is not the final curtain call for planet earth! Yes, there are dark and freighting events occurring on a daily basis, and instantaneous reporting and satellite and internet news coverage 24/7 of such events means that we can seldom escape from the daily carnage. However, even as we watch the darkness getting darker, there is an alternative ending after what appears to be final curtain!   

All Christians, have for the last two thousand years or so, lived in "The Gospel Age". The Apostle Paul also used the term "Last or Latter Days"    

And in the morning, Foul weather today; for the sky is red and gloomy. Hypocrites! You can discern the face of the sky, but you cannot see the signs of the times! Matthew 16:3 MKJV

And as it was in the days of Noah, so it also shall be in the days of the Son of Man. They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark; and the flood came and destroyed them all. Luke 17-26-27 MKJV

And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near. Why is the Gospel Age ending? 

And He spoke a parable to them: Behold the fig-tree and all the trees. Now when they sprout leaves, seeing it you will know that summer is now near. So also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near. Truly I say to you, This generation shall not pass away until all these things are fulfilled.  Luke 21:29-32 KMJV

“Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. The single biggest "way-marker"on the prophetic timetable occurred on the 14th May 1947..... Israel became a nation again, almost 2,000 years after the Diaspora. Throughout the Bible, and particularly in the New Testament, the fig tree is a "type" of Israel. Any keen student of Bible prophecy should be watching Israel with keen eyes. It's seldom far from the news. For such a tiny nation , of just 8,019 sq. miles, it certainly grabs the world's attention.

There are many schools of thought about Israel's place in Biblical events, and there is little agreement among the thousands of Christian denominations. A quick search on Google returns more than 20 million results. For such a tiny nation Israel commands very prominent pace in world events and history. Keep your eyes on the Middle-east and especially Israel.

We will get thru this horrible time, the world will recover, but it will likely look somewhat different .
