May the FORCE be with you!

Obi-Wan Kenobi used The Force for good.
A new expression entered common usage in the late 20th century, thanks to the phenomenally successful ''Stars Wars" franchise.

Darth Vader introduced us all to the mysterious energy that permeated the universe; a energy that had a good side, in  Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker's hands, but a much darker side when Darth Vader and his decidedly evil master Darth Sidious unleashed its power. For the generations who first saw these movies, Darth Vader became the personification of evil.

Many have attempted to use the Star Wars movies as a modern parable, good verses evil, God against Lucifer, but the story of "Star Wars" comes from the imagination of one man. A very vivid imagination to be sure, but it's still just a story.

The real problem with the use of Star Wars as a modern parable, is that the supernatural answer to the problem of evil provided in Star Wars is much more compatible with the New Age than the New Testament. George Lucas has admitted that New Age books have greatly influenced his storytelling. The are many occultic and  Pantheistic themes in all of the movies. There is no cosmic force or Chi that flows through all things and individuals; there is however an "open door" through which we can walk into the loving embrace of the Creator of the universe.

The reality is that God is the FORCE for good in the universe, and the Dark Lord is already defeated!
Satan is defeated- Gustav Dore
All things are held together by Jesus Christ ''And he [Jesus Christ] is before all things, and by him all things consist'. Colossians 1:17

For most of us moderns Satan is nothing more than a joke, just a symbol of evil. According to a recent George Barna poll, 60% of Americans say Satan is “not a living being, but a symbol of evil.” Even among self-described born-again Christians, 46% deny Satan’s existence

Whether  we believe or not, Satan is the great enemy of the Saint.  "Satan" means "adversary." The Bible refers to the devil by a number of names and descriptions. He is seen as "the anointed cherub" (Ezekiel. 28:14), "the ruler of demons" (Luke 11:15), "the ruler of this world" (John 16:11), "the god of this world" (2 Cor. 4:4), and "the prince of the power of the air" (Ephesians 2:2). He is identified as a great dragon, a roaring lion, the vile one, the tempter, and the accuser.

The accuser of our souls is a spirit being  with intelligence, tangible characteristics, and whose incessant goal and ambition is to “steal, kill, and destroy” (John 10:10).

The good news... no, GREAT NEWS, is that Satan has no real authority over believers!  Any legal authority that Satan had was neutralized by the finished work of Christ on the cross.

Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it” Colossians  2:15. “...For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3:8

From God's Word
Rom 8:1-3  There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. But the Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh; MKJV
