He didn't answer!

When a pilot died at the controls of his small plane, on an interstate flight in the USA, the pilot’s wife kept the plane flying for two hours until it ran out of fuel. During this time she sang hymns and prayed for help. As the plane crossed the South Carolina-North Carolina border, she radioed for help: “Help, help, won’t someone help me? My pilot is unconscious. Won’t somebody help me?” Authorities who picked up her distress signal were not able to reach her by radio during the flight because she kept changing channels. The distressed woman finally made a crash landing and then crawled for 45 minutes to a farmhouse for help.

How often do God’s people cry out for help, but switch channels before God’s answer comes through. They often turn to other sources seeking help, looking for human intervention in their situation. When you cry out to God for His intercession, don’t make the mistake of switching channels… wait for His answer.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. James 1:5-8 NKJV

If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him.
Only it must be in faith that he asks with no wavering (no hesitating, no doubting). For the one who wavers (hesitates, doubts) is like the billowing surge out at sea that is blown hither and thither and tossed by the wind. For truly, let not such a person imagine that he will receive anything [he asks for] from the Lord, [For being as he is] a man of two minds (hesitating, dubious, irresolute), [he is] unstable and unreliable and uncertain about everything [he thinks, feels, decides]. James 1:5-8 Amplified Bible

Albert Barnes says, in his excellent commentary on these verses, the following: “Probably this refers particularly to the kind of wisdom which they (the believers) would need in their trials, to enable them to bear them in a proper manner, for there is nothing in which Christians more feel the need of heavenly wisdom than in regard to the manner in which they should bear trials.”

He goes on to say, regarding asking in “faith”… “We cannot hope to obtain any favor from God if there is not faith; and where, as in regard to the wisdom necessary to guide us, we are sure that it is in accordance with His will to grant it to us, we may come to Him with the utmost confidence, the most entire assurance, that it will be granted.”

The very popular TV show “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?” is an intriguing show to watch because of the sometimes very eccentric individuals and the dependability, or otherwise, of their lifelines. Yes, they are going for the Million-dollar pot but it’s interesting to watch and learn about the importance of lifelines to get to the grand prize.

Watching this TV show proves that it’s very important to make sure that your lifelines are dependable. I have watched people lose because their phone-a-friend lifeline gave them the wrong answer. I have seen the knowledgeable friend be completely wrong. I have seen the majority of the audience vote for the wrong answer. I have seen eliminating ½ the answers help, but even with a 50/50 chance, the contestants sometimes still get the wrong answer.

During our time on this planet we face many questions and sometimes we answer them correctly… and sometimes we get it painfully wrong. In every scenario the answers we choose can either bless us or cause much grief and pain. Wouldn’t it be nice if at that moment in time the music started playing the lights started flashing and there was a booming voice from Heaven which stated, “Is that Your Final answer?” I know if this occurred then I would make sure absolutely that my answer and response was correct. I would use my lifelines every time I needed to make an important decision.

And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive." Matthew 21:22

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? Luke 11:13
